Volunteer Recruitment for Investment Process

Volunteer to Help Guide Community Funding!

Spokane County United Way needs volunteers to help evaluate grant applications for the upcoming funding cycle.

The work of Spokane County United Way has always been strengthened by volunteer support and involvement of people who live in the community we serve. Our funding process involves local volunteers and the Community Impact Committee (made up of Spokane County United Way Board of Directors and local community members). We rely on these volunteers to evaluate programs requesting funding and participate in making recommendations for allocation of funds. Funded partners are thoughtfully selected through a trusted application process which focuses on a commitment to create more equitable communities.

One of the many benefits of volunteering is gaining new insights related to the needs and challenges in our community and learn how local nonprofits come together to create sustaining solutions.

Goals that focus our work:
  • Education: Cut educational achievement gaps in half.
  • Income/Financial Stability: Increase percent of financially stable households.
  • Health: Increase the prevalence of safe, healthy families free of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.
Your Commitment:

This volunteer opportunity will run from April through May, 2023 and consist of reading and evaluating applications, and in-person / virtual meetings (1-2 hours / week). Approximately 60 volunteers are needed.
