More Information about Spokane Gives

What is Spokane Gives?

Born from the commitment to building Spokane as the most compassionate City, former Mayor David Condon (2012-2019) began the Spokane Gives initiative in 2014 as a week-long volunteer event throughout the community. Today, Spokane County United Way partners with the City of Spokane throughout the entire month of April and serves as an expansion of the already impressive philanthropy in the community and works to build the network between volunteer and non-profit to promote giving year-round.

How has Spokane Gives impacted the community?

Since Spokane Gives was expanded to a full month, almost 100,000 volunteers have given over 440,000 hours of service. Using the federal volunteer equivalent, this equates to a $10.9 million impact in our city! Thanks to our compassionate community, hundreds of non-profit organizations have been able to complete much-needed service projects each year, and the diverse network of volunteers continues to grow.

Our Role

Volunteers are at the heart of our community and Spokane County United Way works to connect volunteers and non-profit agencies to make impact through our online volunteer platform VolunteerSpokane.org. Over 300 local nonprofits have opportunities waiting to be filled and volunteers can easily find opportunities that fit their schedule and interests all year long.
