The Process


National research identifies the middle school years as a time of rapid developmental changes, changes in the education environment, and increasing exposure to risky behaviors. Early adolescence is an important time to help young people stay on a positive path to high school graduation and successful adulthood. Locally, parents and youth who participated in community conversations agreed.

Investments in middle school also complement and leverage current efforts by school districts, funders, community organizations, Priority Spokane and their findings from Gonzaga University's report, "Enhancing Middle School Student Experiences."
