I am honored to serve the Spokane County United Way as the 2014-2015 Chair of the Board of Directors. Together, with diverse leaders representing the private and public sectors, we are working to build a healthier and more
prosperous community.

Over the past year, our United Way has engaged in discussions about where we stand today and where we aspire to be in the future. This led to our Vision 2020 and a set of strategic goals that guides our work and focuses the  expertise, funding and volunteer support necessary to positively impact education, income and health – the building blocks for a good quality of life.

We believe that education is vital for lifelong success and that it sets a strong foundation to create pathways out of poverty for individuals and families across our entire community. Our Excelerate Success initiative is making great strides to link partners and develop strong networks that help ensure all children are ready to learn at every age, successfully transition into college, and earn a certificate or degree that positions them for career growth and a high quality of life.

Our website connects hundreds of volunteers to projects throughout the year that strengthen neighborhoods and schools.

We have an investment strategy designed to reach key outcomes and increase the capacity of our community to meet the needs of our children and families and help everyone gain access to the tools they need to be successful.

Spokane County United Way is mobilizing our human and financial resources to make an impact where it matters most. I urge you to get involved and please join me as we work together to reach our shared goals and truly make Spokane a better place to live and work.
